My grandfather’s herbs were famous on our street. Now they have a name.

Hi, I’m Rupreet. I founded r-veda® in dedication to my grandfather, Baba.

When I was growing up, Baba was the person neighbours came to. He kept a herbal mix of nine herbs and spices, blended by hand, and it was known across our local community. He gave it to all of us, and he never tired of telling us why. “Look after your gut,” he’d say. “Everything starts with digestion.”

As a child, I took the mix because Baba told me to. It took me twenty years to understand why.

I went on to spend more than a decade at some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, and studied Healthcare Innovation at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. I learned how modern medicine is made, tested and proven. And I learned something I didn’t expect: many of today’s medicines began as plants.

The more I learned, the more I kept coming back to Baba. What our forefathers knew by tradition, science is now beginning to study seriously. There are clinical studies on many of the herbs and spices in Baba’s kitchen. Many are still small, but they’re pointing in an interesting direction. Families around the world have kept these herbs in their daily lives for generations, long before anyone thought to run a trial.

That is where I found my passion: in the meeting point between what our grandparents knew and what science is now confirming.

But when I went looking for an Ayurvedic supplement brand I could trust, I couldn’t find one. Too many products came with unclear sourcing, unnecessary fillers, or no independent testing at all. One study published in JAMA found that one in five Ayurvedic products bought online contained detectable lead, mercury or arsenic.

So I made my own. I brought Baba’s formula back to life, with the standards I learned in pharma. Clean ingredients and no unnecessary fillers or additives. Made in the UK. Every batch independently tested by a third-party lab, including for heavy metals. Ayurvedic tradition, held to modern standards.

Today it’s Baba’s Blend, the heart of r-veda®, alongside a small range of single herbs chosen with the same care. Every pouch carries his name.

We’re still a small family business. Baba never sold a thing; he just shared what worked for him. I hope r-veda® carries that on.
