Digest

Ease heaviness and support smooth digesting ("Agni Kinding")

Our Gut & Digestion collection restores balance from within — supporting metabolism, nutrient absorption, and natural detoxification through herbs that ignite Agni, the digestive fire.

Philosophy: Health Begins with the Digestive Fire

Ayurveda teaches that a strong digestive fire (Agni) is the foundation of health and longevity.

When Agni burns steadily, food is transformed into nourishment and vitality. When it weakens or becomes erratic, toxins (Ama) accumulate — leading to fatigue, inflammation, and imbalance.

Modern science echoes this ancient truth: the gut is not just a digestive organ, but a central hub for immunity, mood, and metabolism.

A balanced microbiome and efficient digestion influence everything from mental clarity to skin health.

Ayurvedic Principle:  Deepana & Pachana

Ayurveda traditionally describes digestion through two complementary concepts: Deepana, supporting appetite and digestive capacity, and Pachana, aiding the efficient breakdown of food. Together, they reflect a balanced digestive process and effective nutrient absorption.

Ayurvedic practice places importance on Agni, often referred to as digestive vitality, and on maintaining digestive balance through diet and herbs. Ingredients such as Trikatu—a traditional blend of ginger, black pepper, and long pepper—have been used for generations to support everyday digestive comfort. Baba’s blend is inspired by this long-standing family recipe.

Amla (Indian gooseberry) is a naturally nutrient-dense fruit and a source of fibre, which contributes to normal bowel function, and vitamin C, which supports normal immune function. It has been traditionally valued in Ayurveda as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale)

Clinical trials show ginger enhances gastric motility, relieves indigestion and bloating, and supports nutrient absorption by stimulating digestive enzymes. In a randomized controlled trial, ginger accelerated gastric emptying and reduced dyspeptic symptoms (Hu et al., 2011, Eur J Gastroenterol Hepatol).

Triphala (Amalaki, Bibhitaki, Haritaki)

This classical Ayurvedic blend promotes gentle detoxification, bowel regularity, and microbiome balance. Modern studies confirm its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and prebiotic effects that support gut-liver axis health (Peterson et al., 2017, J Altern Complement Med).

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) & Cumin (Cuminum cyminum)

Both have carminative and antispasmodic properties — relaxing smooth intestinal muscles, reducing gas formation, and alleviating discomfort. Their volatile oils have been shown to improve digestion and soothe IBS-related symptoms (Badgujar et al., 2014, Phytother Res).

Black Pepper (Piper nigrum)

Traditionally used to “kindle Agni,” modern science shows its active compound piperine enhances the bioavailability of nutrients and herbal actives, amplifying the efficacy of digestive blends (Meghwal & Goswami, 2013, Crit Rev Food Sci Nutr).

Integrating Digestive Harmony into Daily Life

Start the Day

Start the Day with Warm Water and Lemon, to stimulate the digestive fire and clears overnight stagnation.

Mindful Eating

Eat without distraction. Chew slowly, allowing digestive enzymes to activate.

Spice Your Meals Wisely

Use Deepana-Pachana spices like cumin, ginger, turmeric, and fennel to support Agni.

Rest the Gut

Ayurveda aligns with modern intermittent fasting — allowing periods of rest between meals supports digestive recovery and microbiome balance.
