ASAFOETIDA

HISTORY

Name: Asafoetida, also known as "hing" in Hindi, has a long history of use in Ayurvedic and Persian traditional medicine. It is a resinous gum that is extracted from the taproot of several species of Ferula, a perennial herb that grows in the mountainous regions of Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan.
